FAQs

What do I need to do to prep for my spray tan?

The most important part of your spray tan starts at home! Drink lots of water and moisturize leading up to your appointment. You're going to want to shower 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. This is your shave and exfoliate shower! Get any unwanted hair and dead skin outta the way! Do not wear make-up, deodorant or lotion between this shower and your spray tan as it can act as a barrier and strip the tan. If you insist on wearing any of the above, please rinse it off with lukewarm water. Showering with hot water immediately before the session could cause pores to open and result in a freckled look with your spray tan.

A spray tan can last for 7-10 days if the skin is properly prepped and taken care of afterward. Please wear or bring dark loose-fitting clothes to change in to after your appointment. I will provide you with an aftercare card that will have your specific rinse time listed and how to take your first shower. This shower is a rinse only! Using lukewarm water, no soap and your hand, you will rinse until the water runs clear from any bronzer. This is not your tan! Your tan will develop in the next 24-48 hours. You will pat dry with a towel and apply a spray safe moisturizer. After 24 hours you may take a normal shower. Avoid sweating, exfoliation and excessive water submersion for best results.

What do I need to do after my spray tan to make it last?

I recommend using brands that are not alcohol based, with no parabens, sulfates, or mineral oil. Some brands I like to use include but are not limited to Native, Hempz, Shea Moisture, Glazed, CeraVe, Cetaphil, Method, Meyers, Sun Bum, Coola, Supergoop. Sunscreen should be a lotion. Aerosol sunscreens are usually alcohol based and will dry your skin out, causing your tan to fade faster or unevenly.

I offer a sweat resistant solution that can be added on for $10! It helps penetrate the skin a little deeper. You will also want to rinse after getting out of any body of water and pat dry with a towel. Then apply a spray tan safe lotion.

Spray tan solution is not a one size fits all. When you go pick out foundation there isn't just one color to choose from. This is what sets a personalized hand sprayed tan apart from a booth. Spray tan solution has come a long way, and many lines of solution offer different bases that respond differently to undertones in the skin. It's my job to make sure the solution I use and your undertone compliment each other in a way that will turn your skin into a natural looking tan. Aside from the undertones and bronzers in solution, your skin can only absorb so much DHA before it starts to look unnatural or that orange color. I will take this into consideration when discussing your preferred outcome! This is how we know when to rinse and why you shouldn't go over the rinse time given to you.

What are some spray tan safe products to use?

What if I'm going on vacation, how do I make my spray tan last?

Will I turn orange?

I will start by setting up and asking you a few questions. You will change into whatever you're comfortable being sprayed in. I do provide hair nets, disposable undergarments, nose plugs and hair ties. You'll then step in to the magic box, I mean booth, and I will apply pH balancing spray if necessary and barrier cream. I will go over positioning with you and ask if you have any questions. I'll then apply color and do a second coat if needed. I will blend and dry along the way. Then finish with drying powder so you leave feeling less sticky.

Please notify me at least 24 hours in advance of any cancellation. Any cancellations with less than 24 hours of notice are subject to a cancelation fee amounting to 50% of the cost of the scheduled service.

I will travel with in 15 miles of Ramsey for no additional charge. 15-30 miles from me will be an additional $10 and 30-45 miles from me will be an additional $20. If you are located outside of these boundaries, please contact me and we can discuss travel.

For a just because tan, whenever! If you are going on vacation I recommend 1-2 days before. If you have a formal event or wedding I recommend getting your tan 3-4 days before.

DHA or Dihydroxyacetone is the active ingredient in spray tan solution. It is responsible for creating the tanned appearance by reacting with the amino acids in the outer layer of your skin, essentially staining it darker color to simulate a suntan. It is considered safe for external use by the FDA.
